I had planned to switch to Square because of the recent price increase with Shopify, but I am finding it hard to actually make that switch. Shopify has allowed us to easily reach customers and has a lot more customization than Square, so the question is: is it worth the tradeoff in the increased price? I will continue to debate this as I gradually build our new Square site.
That said, I saw on reddit that another small business recommended a rewards program app that integrates with Shopify. We are going to test this out over the next three months to see how it works and if we want to continue using it (and Shopify).
We do not get a lot of repeat business right now, and I sometimes wonder is that because people just randomly find our products on Google and don’t actually look at the site? Or is it because there is something they do not like about us? We have always tried our hardest to provide our customers with the service we would want ourselves from a business, but that is much harder in an e-commerce setting. In person, we can chit chat and spend too much time talking about video games or that new thing your friend bought that you wish we carried. That’s the beauty of a brick-and-mortar store. But online…it’s pretty much “I want this” and we just ship it to you.
Our new loyalty program rewards you with XP (since we’re geeks here), which you can redeem for discounts on future purchases. It’s fairly straightforward and is explained in the widget you’ll see on our site. You earn XP when you buy, no matter what you buy—we aren’t like the big corporate stores who have a lot of ifs, ands, or buts.
For now, you can only earn XP through purchases, liking us on Facebook, and following us on Instagram. Just click the link in the widget to earn your points. When you’ve accumulated enough, you can redeem them on future purchases. Simple as that.
Now go earn some XP!
